The aim of this course is to introduce students to the basic techniques of Studio Lighting. This course is run over a period of 2 days, covering all of the basics, but can also be run as a 1 day bespoke course for those wishing to take things on a step by step basis. The course will enable the student to have a hands on approach at each stage, practically engaging with the set up of the studio and the lighting techniques involved.
Set up of a basic studio
Use of studio lighting
Main light – lighting patterns
Fill light
Hair light
Background light
Props – Backgrounds – Stands, poles, etc.
Simple posing
Measuring light – light meters
Reflectors
Low key lighting
High key lighting
Basic work flow – Studio – laptop/computer, benefits of working in RAW format.
